In 2013 and 2014, a complete of 103 delivery packing containers of in large part residual family rubbish declared as scrap plastics for recycling had been illegally despatched to the Philippines from Canada. In 2015, rubbish from 26 of these containers turned into unlawfully dumped on a personal landfill in Tarlac, infuriating provincial officials and residents.
EcoWaste Coalition National Coordinator Aileen Lucero applauded the committee’s decision in an emailed declaration.
“After a constant marketing campaign to ship the unlawful garbage again to Canada, we’re sooner or later beginning to see the end result of our collective hard work.
